Sooooo, this is ROLUS!
As we’ve been describing it internally… It’s Wipeout with BALLS!
It’s my first game as a part of Guinea Pig Labs. I’m really excited to be a part of this creative collective of people, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! The aim for ROLUS at the moment is to complete a demo for the game by April 30th to meet the submission deadline for this year’s Haunted PS1 Demo Disc collection. Otherwise, we’ll release it anyways! And depending on how it goes, it might get a full game release?… we’ll see.
It’ll be a PS1 style racing game inspired by the Wipeout series of games, 90s CG renders, the Y2K aesthetic, and Sanicball! (Yeah, quite the list of inspirations, huh.)
Currently, it’s been a project I’ve been primarily working on solo, a part from the assistance I’ve received here and there from both Dogman and Zealot (huge thanks to them for helping me gradually understand Godot and make this crazy idea into a reality!) I’ve been developing the game whilst simultaneously learning the engine and its programming language, GDScript. So whilst a solid chunk of the game has already been completed, I’ve found myself rounding back to earlier code, revising it, and tidying it up based on the new things I’ve been learning in the process. It’s an exhilarating experience overall!
So to summarise, ROLUS is a game I’m developing, with a demo releasing either Q2 or Q3 of this year! (Depending on what happens with the Demo Disc. Don’t know if there’s an exclusivity clause with Demo Disc games or something.)
But yeah, if you have any questions, suggestions, etc. Feel free to leave them in the text chats. I’m open to community feedback, and expect more development updates soon! Anywho, thanks for reading, stay safe and take care!
